SOUTHINGTON, CT — A major water leak in Southington has the local water department scrambling to make the fix Thursday afternoon, with warnings of water service disruptions issued.

"We currently have a gate valve leak at the intersection of Bristol Street and George Street," wrote Southington Water Works.

"To make the repair, water service will be interrupted on George Street, Brooks Street, Germania Street, and Bristol Street between George Street and Eden Avenue."

The department said it would be issuing regular updates as the day progresses if the area impacted expands.

"Please be patient while we determine the extent of service interruption and make the gate valve repair," wrote the water department.
